Give Your Pooch the Right Balance of Food

Often, you rely on branded dog supplies stores to provide your dog sufficient nutrients. But do you know even these brands are sometimes prone to be comprised of ingredients that might prove detrimental to your dog’s health? This is what happened in the recent past when a dog food brand was found to contain salmonella which in turn caused many dogs to fall sick and die. Therefore, as dog lovers and owners, you should be careful when choosing your dog’s food and enlighten yourself on certain ingredients that might be dangerous.

What Should Your Dog Have? – A Nutrition Guide

Whatever way you prefer your dogs their food, canned, kibble or home made, essential and well-balanced ingredients -proteins, fibers and carbohydrates- are imperative for your dog’s healthy diet.

1. Proteins – This is one of the key components in a balanced dog diet. Since your doggie may not be as fussy as you are when it comes to meat eating, you can save a lot by purchasing large quantities of meat such as liver, green tripe, kidneys, and heart which are high in the protein. You can also give him legumes as well as eggs as alternative sources.
2. Carbohydrates – Though they are required at much lesser amounts than proteins, carbs are an essential part of any balanced diet. Leafy vegetables such as celery, spinach, broccoli and grains like wheat, rice barley, oats and corns are great sources of carbohydrates. Carrots are also rich in carbohydrates as well as nutrients such as betacarotene and vitamin A that are extremely beneficial for healthy eyesight.
3. Fibers – Apples, oranges, pears and the like have the necessary fibers and are beneficial for their intestines. However, not all fruits are safe for canine consumption, so be sure to ask your vet if you have any questions.

Getting the Best Food for Your Dog

The dog food market is teeming with products that are not authentic or very healthy for your dog. Look for foods that contain a stamp from Association of American Feed Control Officials (AAFCO) – this means that the nutritional composition of the food has been verified as complete and balanced.

There are also certain foods that are strict no-no’s for your dogs, including yeast dough, raisins, garlic, onion, chocolates and other sweets. As well, avoid beverages like coffee and tea which are high in caffeine and may be harmful for your dog’s nervous system and heart.

Your dog is precious, and paying close attention to their food will ensure that you have their company for long years to come!

More than a dog daycare or dog kennel

People often ask first about our prices for pet sitting. And while we strive to be the offer the best dog minding services for the most competitive price, we believe that we are more than a dog daycare or pet sitter. We are the social dog resort. Our days consist of multiple outdoor walks in small groups, dogs also get to socialize with similar sizes and temperaments - Not spend days pent up in separate quarters. For overnights, we have suites for luxury boarding that are spacious and comfortable for your dog. Yes, for additional fee, we offer the best quality foods, and additional services to make your pet feel extra special. Yet our base rate covers what every dog needs and deserves – play time, walks, and comfortable downtime. We also think that feeding them what you feed at home helps them to keep their routine. We provide beds and bowls, but you can bring the comfort items and toys that make your house their home. And if you want to treat them to some dog spa time, we do baths, nails and all kinds of other pampering. We have regular visits by a dental hygentist for teeth cleanings. We can do daily brushing – teeth or coat. So yes, we do pet sitting, we are dog walkers, but we are professionals who do alot more than the kid next door. We are prepared for dog emergencies. We are licensed to provide San Francisco pet care services.  Shop around, you’ll find it hard to beat our value for our quality. Because we are more than dog care, we are a dog fun center.
